Going shopping Journal #13

The day after thanks giving day shopping is good because most stores had a special sells and buying in special stores sometimes we can save money. My wife, son, and I went to Wall Mart and they selected some clothes and finally purchased them. I could not find a covenient shoes in this store. I tried to find Some clothes and a pair of shoes in other stores. finally I found a pair of shoes in Payless store. The price was not good because when I select a pair of shoes, there was no any discount, unless I Buy one more pair of shoes to receive half a percent discount. I had to encourage my son to choose a pair of shoes for himself to receive half a price for one pair of shoes which had lower price. I realized to this business trick during the shopping.

Thanksgiving day

Journal#12The history of Thanksgiving Day in each country is different.In US, after the United States became an independent country, Congress recommended one yearly day of thanksgiving for the whole nation to celebrate. George Washington suggested the date November 26 as Thanksgiving Day. Then in 1863, at the end of a long and bloody civil war, Abraham Lincoln asked all Americans to set aside the last Thursday in November as a day of thanksgiving. In my country Iran, Thanksgiving Day is a pulic day for the nation. The people usually go to mosque or hospital to help others who need help. I would like to be a thanksful person for three reasons. Firstly, my country is safe, and there is no any anxious for our relative or for my nation. for example, during Iraq and Iran war most people were wary for their safety. Secondly, my family members are in health. For example, if a person suffers a perticular ilness, othres are worrid about him or her. Finally, I am able to provide my son's facilities to study at college.
I wish for all peopleto have these kinds of God's favor.

EARTHQUAke

Today is relateed to earthquake warning.we did some practice in the class and ten left the class stayed out side.I remember something about animals.Some kinds of animals have stronger sesitivity than human being.for example horse responds few second before it occures.Because horse is able to percept the frequency of earthquake better than human being.according to this capability scientist are searching and creating some sensors for more accurate prediction about earthquake.animals are more susceptible to subtle environmental changes than humans are.

If I could have vote I tried to support democratic party for a couple of reasons. First of all, democratic party beieve that some changes are necessry for the United States.Economic situation is not good at the moment, some people are complaining for recesion.unemployment, and inflation.The new president plans to modify and reform these weaknesses.Seconly, democratic pary has more attention to midle class and midle class includes the mejority people of the United States.I hope the new president can overcome the present problems which US has been faced with them.

wind power

This journal is mostly related to wind power.Wind is a natural source of energy.Scientists believe that oil will be finished in the near future. they have to find an other way to substitue for this liquid to produce energy. To use energy from natural sources is related to thousands years ago.
Iran started to research to use wind energy in seventh sentury. there is a wind mill power in North West of Iran which shows the history of using wind energy to evacuate water fron under the ground. wind impacts the blade of mill and propeller rotates aroun its axis. the rotating movement changes to linear mvement, it causes to move a piston inside of the cylider and warer is evacuated by this mechanism from the deep point of thr ground.

English Writing

I think my English writing has improved since I have started the ALP program particularly this semester. In this semester I have learned different type of essays such as descriptive, comparison/contrast, and argumentive essays. I usually follow my paper exams and paper homework when I receive them from my teachers. They help me to prevent doing any mistake again. If I try to read more English texts, and study grammar books I will have better improvement. TOEFLE test assist me to improve in English writing, but not as much as composition classes.

Readinng Book

Reading book is my favorite activities. I devided my free time into reading two kinds of books, First of all, I try to read some books which are mostly related to university activities. These books are mostly related to English language and university course, because I need to pass TOEFL, and university course. Second, Iam interested in reading some kinds of books which include useful aphorisms. For example," Lif's little instruction books" is my favorite book which include 511 valuable advice. The advantages of this book are mostly rlated to lif's experience.
I belive these kinds of books are more interested foe those who have some experiences in their life. When the people compare teir experiene and suggested advice they enjoy to find the solution of their life.

Problems of Tourism

Tourism has many advantages as a source of revenenue, the disadvantages of tourism are not negligible. There are several problems in the areas of culture and security for a country which accepts tourism. First of all, differences of culture, tourism culture is not the same as a country
which turists vist there. for examplr, some tourists go to a contry like Egipt. They need to have relaxation and ejoynment of the ancient history of Egipt. The government of Egipt shoud provieds the necessities of tourists, particularly he should remove some restriction which are applied for his nation such as dinking acohol. The other problem can be safety. The tourists need to fill pysical and mental protection.



Tourism is becoming increasingly important as a source of revenue to many countries but its disadvantages should not be overlooked. What are some of the problems of tourism?

Sandiego and Orange County

There are some similaritis and dfferences between Orange County and Sandiego.
Orang Oounty and Sndiago have the same claimate, and raining weather. in contrast the trafic jam in Sngiago was obsorved more than Orange County.For example, One time my family and I went to the Sndiago and encountered with trafic jam, after few hours we reached to our destination. 

Second,  Orange County  and Sandiego are similar in shopping centers, in contrast sandiego has an interesting zoo with different kind of animals, for example, some kinds of animals you can not see in any other zoo, whereas, you may observe them in Sandiego zoo.

Both places have the same beaches, however, beaches in sandiego has more varieties.For example, tourists can find more hotels in Sandiego, consequently Sandiego has more attraction for tourists.

In short, Sangigo and Orange County are located in California. Threr are some similarities and differences in areas of climate, and  tourist attraction places such as zoo, shopping ceters and hotels      

Technology

Technology is a powerful tolls for human beings.this is may not possible to provide, unless a society has some characteristics. First of all, a soiety should have ability to provide fundamental necessities for people.
For example a society needs to have enough educational system succh as schools, colleges, unversities, and laoratories to groew up the people. Second, the distinguishrd students should be known and grown in right positions, for istance, in some countries poor people can not reach to universities because of lack of finanacial supports. next, a country should have close conection with developed countries. this connection can cause close cooperation. The results of close cooperation may have improvements for both countrie in different fields.
In sort, to reach a desired technolgy needs to have governmental support, educational facilities, and closed cooperatins with developed countries

Describe your first impression with ALP. How does it differ to how you feel, or what you think about ALP now
Impression of the first day with ALP was very wonderful for me. The process of rgistration was a little dificlt but cooperation of persons at ALP was very warm and useful. I thought all classes
begins with English language. After orietation I realised that ALP is not only the English classes,
but also includes familiarity with Americam cultures.This part of schedul was very itresting for me.
I started the composition and reading classes. Some times they were easy and some times they were difficult.conversations with students werte dificult to understand.Teachers had good eperienc and good accent. After two semesters I could apply for some universiy classes. I was more familiar with this kind of classes because I had some background about university subjects.
On the other hand I encoutered with a lot of home work not only for ALP yet for university classes.
After three semesters I am happy as I improve in English language and passed some university classes which were useful for me. I need to pass TOEFL to start my master gegree.
In my openion, If I didn't take any english classes at ALP, I couldnt pass the universitv exam

About Myself

I am Seyed Kashfi.I have come fom Iran.I am living in the US almost 3 years.I worked in a construction company for 18 mounth and then registered at ALP to improve my English language. Iam living with my wife and my son.My son is student in Saddleback college.I plan to go to unversity for master degree. I need to pass TOEFL with 550 for addmission to university. My major is mechanical engineering.I try to study books in my free time. My English favorite book is 'Life's Little Instruction' which includes 511 useful advice for everyone's life. More over, I have also 18 years experience in research activities in my country. My major job is to study patents about invention and inovation. I have also received a patent about automatic feeding device which helps the handicapped people who are not able to feed themselves This system assist them to feed without using their hands.I am going to come back home after completing my education.
